Sports and ScoutsThe Clinton Valley Council Boy Scouts of America is piloting the Pontiac Sports and Scouting program in five elementary schools this year. This program will provide character education and Scouting values while offering boys the opportunity to participate in a sport. Through paraprofessionals and volunteer coaches/leaders, these boys will experience the important values-based learning of scouting while learning good sportsmanship, increasing self-esteem and skill development as well. A portion of the practice was spent on traditional Scouting activities including working on the Bobcat badge, while the remainder focused on soccer skills.

Boys at Crofoot, Herrington, Perdue, Twain, and WHRC had the opportunity to participate in this program at no cost. Through Pontiac Sports and Scouting the Clinton Valley Council Boy Scouts are bringing athletics and scouting programs into this ethnically diverse community.

Head Coach Andy Spina did a tremendous job with the boys, bringing great enthusiasm to his role! Assistant Coaches Erika Sorensen and Alex Hartman helped make the program run smoothly!
